Sustainability

The extraordinary performance of Dry Hydroponics helps to maximise the production volume per production area. Dry Hydroponics is not only sustainable in its use of space, it is also efficient in its consumption of water, fertiliser, and energy. By maximizing production volume while minimizing consumption of space, water, fertiliser, and energy ensures that both the physical and ecological footprint per crop are significantly reduced,

Water

Dry Hydroponics is a closed cultivation system. What this means is that water that is added to the system is used only by the crops: the highest efficiency attainable!

Fertiliser

The same applies to fertiliser. As no fertiliser seeps into the soil, nothing is wasted. This serves as both a cost reduction and a benefit to the environment. With other cultivation practices “redundant” fertiliser seeps into the soil, comes into contact with the groundwater, and adversely affects the ecosystem. Thanks to the closed Dry Hydroponics system this is a thing of the past.

Space

The intensive production assures that all available space is used as efficiently as possible. Furthermore, fertile soil is no longer a requirement, as the Dry Hydroponics system can be applied anywhere.

New approach to crop protection

A healthy crop is robust and requires minimal protection. A sturdy root structure and sufficient light are the foundation for a robust crop; Dry Hydroponics provides that foundation.

Dry Hydroponics was designed with a natural barrier between the soil and the crops’ leaves. This approach helps to prevent prolonged periods of damp leaves, eliminating the possibility for fungi’s to develop.

Energy

Dry Hydroponics is highly energy efficient due to the major production increase without requiring additional energy. This drastically reduces the required energy per harvested crop. The water used by the system can further be heated or cooled using low quality energy. Producing lettuce without the use of fossil fuels is no longer a utopia, but a choice!
